2021 REGISTRATION OPENS FEB. 5

To the Marblehead Youth Baseball community:

We are certain of two things:

  1. That Spring 2021 will eventually come, and that it will be perfect baseball weather in Marblehead for a cumulative total of at least forty-five minutes; and when that happens,
  2. That many, many kids will be looking forward to the opportunity to get outside again and play baseball, safely.

We continue to anticipate that, with some of the same guidelines in place as we utilized in the summer and fall last year (face coverings, bench/dugout area outside the field), we can offer baseball programs for as many of our players who are ages 7-15 by April 30, 2021 as we possibly can accommodate.

Therefore, we are happy to announce that we are opening registration for our Spring 2021 programs at 10am on Friday, February 5.

Registration will be first-come, first-served, so PLEASE make every effort to sign up ASAP. We want to make room for every player who wants to play baseball this spring, but, based on guidance we get from the town, we may have to institute a waiting list at some point. (Waiting list or not, the deadline for registration is Sunday, February 28. There will be a late fee added for registrations received after that point.)

Some other topics:

  • WINTER WORKOUTS. We will NOT be offering a Winter Workout program in the MHS fieldhouse this winter. We ARE looking for opportunities to get our registered players outside and starting some baseball activities as soon as the weather permits. (NOTE that this means the sooner you are signed up for the spring, the sooner you will be able to participate in these workouts.)
  • SCHEDULE. In order to maximize our field space in a safe manner (and allow our players to have the absolutely-important practice time they need, as well), we may have to expand our game-playing days. Our goal continues to be that every team will play 2-3 times/week, and practice once/week. Beyond that, we are unable to clarify playing/practicing days of the week at this point.
  • TIMETABLE. At this point, we are hopeful for the following approximate timetable:
    • by mid-March: have gotten outside a few times to practice
    • mid-to-late March: conduct Player Evaluations (likely in the Raimo Zone, weather permitting)
    • on or about Friday, April 2 - announce teams
    • April 3-25 - team practices
    • Monday, April 26 - games begin
    • mid-June (TBD) - spring season ends
  • PARADE/OPENING CEREMONIES. It is extremely likely that we will NOT have a parade and Opening Ceremonies this year.
  • CLINIC. We have no updates at this point on an Introductory Clinic for our six-year-old players.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email mhdbaseball@mhdbaseball.org. Thanks, stay safe and healthy, and we hope to see you on the fields soon!
